Skilled Workers Class
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) highlighted an emphasis on education,
language proficiency, previous stays in Canada, and the transferable skills that
can be applied to the Canadian workforce. Skilled Workers are persons who are allowed
to enter Canada as permanent residents as they are deemed to have the required profile
and credentials to become economically established in Canada. Most independent immigrants
are skilled workers who are expected to have the skills, education, work experience,
language ability and other qualities needed to participate in the Canadian labour
market. Applications are processed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada ("CIC").
Business Class
- Investor: Designed for foreign businessmen who want to obtain a
permanent resident status in Canada through a passive investment. Applicants under
this program get a permanent resident visa and are not required to start any business
in Canada. They need to have acquired a minimum of CAD$800,000 and are willing to
invest CAD$400,000 for 5 years with no interest.
- Entrepreneur: Designed for successful owners or part owners with
significant business experience who have the intention and ability to own and manage
a business in Canada, which generates revenues and employment. A minimum net worth
of CAD$300,000 is required.
- Self Employed: Designed for applicants who have relevant experience
in cultural activities, athletics or farming and have the intention and abilities
to be self-employed in Canada.

2. Common-law partner
3. Conjugal partner
4. Dependent children
- Family Class: Eligible relatives
1. parents
2. grandparents
3. brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned,
under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship
4. another relative of any age or relationship if none of the above relatives could
be sponsored, and you have no other relatives who are Canadian citizens, persons
registered as Indians under the Indian Act or permanent residents and
5. accompanying relatives of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent
children).
Student Visa
In order to apply for a study permit it is important to satisfy the following requirements:
- You must have been accepted by a school, college, university or other educational
institution in Canada.
- You must prove that you have enough money to pay for your: tuition fees
- living expenses for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada
and
- return transportation for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada.
- You must be a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record and not be a risk to the
security of Canada. You may have to provide a police certificate.
- You must be in good health and willing to complete a medical examination, if necessary.
- You must satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada when you have
completed your studies.
